Part-Time Painting Assistant

The studio of a globally exhibited contemporary artist is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Painting Assistant with experience in realistic, figurative, and landscape/botanical acrylic and oil painting for freelance, project-based work over the next 6 -months, with the possibility to extend.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, a keen eye for detail, and a high standard of craftsmanship. They should be adaptable, efficient, and comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced studio environment. A positive, steady demeanor and the ability to take direction while working independently are essential.

Responsibilities

Painting:

• Assist in executing the Artist’s paintings under the direction of the Artist and studio staff
• Mix and apply paints, prime canvases, and prepare surfaces and materials

Studio Operations:

• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient studio environment.
• Handle, store, and maintain art materials and equipment with care
• Sourcing and replenishing studio supplies 

Project Support:

• Assist with research and other background processes as needed
• Prepare, handle, and pack completed artworks for exhibitions and transport

Qualifications (Required)

• Professional or advanced experience with realistic acrylic and oil painting
• Strong understanding of painting materials, techniques, color theory, and surface preparation
• Meticulous attention to detail and a high standard of craftsmanship
• Ability to take direction, accept feedback, and collaborate within a studio team
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift and handle materials and work on large-scale pieces
• Reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and organized
